The Compositions 1960 je soubor textových hudebních skladeb napsaných v roce 1960 skladatelem La Monte Youngem.
Bulletin JAZZ postupem doby navázal na původní články o jazzu informacemi o progrocku, soudobé hudbě, minimalismu a později i punku, alternativním divadle, výtvarném umění či počátcích elektronické hudby.
To inspirovalo vydavatelství Blue Lizard k tomu, aby u příležitosti kulatého výročí tohoto bulletinu nechalo vyrobit reprint této partitury, a oslovilo dvaadvacet současných umělců z České a Slovenské republiky k její současné hudební interpretaci.

"The Compositions 1960 is a collection of lyrics to musical compositions written in 1960 by composer La Monte Young. These
pieces, inspired by John Cage, are unique in their emphasis
on performance and extra-musical actions such as lighting fires
in front of an audience (Composition 1960 #2), the release of a butterfly into a room (Composition 1960 #5) or pressing a piano against a wall (Piano Piece for Terry Riley #1) of Young's work is the concept of "stasis" as opposed to "Fluxus". "Change or flow are inevitable," Young wrote. "Stasis or staying the same is impossible. Thus, the achievement of a static state is the goal, while the state of flow, variation, or contrast is inevitable, and is therefore the goal unnecessary."
Fifty years ago, in the spring of 1972, a freethinker was born in the then Czechoslovakia bulletin of the Jazz Section JAZZ, which in the emerging era of normalization an island of journalistic freedom and reading about Western culture. The latest double issue JAZZ 27/28 was published in 1980. In this double issue, the third cover of the bulletin was stuck with a letter envelope with a score by American artist La Monte Young entitled Composition 1960 #9. This inspired the publisher in 2022 Blue Lizard to mark the round anniversary of the newsletter JAZZ to commission a reprint of the score, and approached twenty-two contemporary artists from the Czech and Slovak Republics for its current musical interpretation."
