The elusive Lukas Midub

Lukas Midub (Midub, ex-Lety Mimo) was originally just a studio dub/ambient techno project that gradually transformed into a live presentation and toured a number of Czech clubs with the help of a sampler and a modular system.

Lukas Midub produces mainly atmospheric electronics in the ambient/dub/downtempo area with a leaning towards electro and acid funk, especially in terms of production and remixes. He creates his music largely on hardware, likes to use analogue synths, various effects, modular system, records real drum sounds, cymbals and is a big fan of Moog and Dreadbox instruments, on which he creates not only all bass lines. He has found an ideal way of creating that adds a certain character to the instruments by sampling and resampling his instruments (and using analog filters). So the music created in Ableton is constantly going through the wires from the computer and coming back to the computer in a different color.

As a Midub he has several releases on domestic labels and many releases worldwide on dub techno/ambient labels and is currently a fixture in the scene. A few years ago he went through the studio belonging to Ecson Waldes to remix Czech funk legend J.A.R. and released his official remix on vinyl, where he met names like PSH, Mňága a Žďorp, Bára Poláková and Monkey Business. Lukáš Midub has always been musically very diverse, as a lover of soul, funk, acid jazz and electro he started to direct his production into more listener-friendly waters.

He also remixed Mojmir Papalescu Magnetik, Dalekko, Noví lidé, ALT and the band Lety Mimo, who were so impressed by the remix that it became the official new version of the song. The collaboration deepened so much that Lukáš became a part of Lety Mimo for two years and as a producer and shadow member with the band he created an album under which he is signed as producer, creator of all electronics, mix and co-writer of new songs of the band.

He is also a shadow member of Beta Solaris, a project playing melancholic songs on the border of ambient rock and electronica, which he founded years ago together with Majkl Brožík and in which he now works only as studio background, production and technical support. All authorship is now solely in the hands of Majkl.

Neuchopitelný Lukas Midub

Lukas Midub (Midub, ex-Lety Mimo) byl původně pouze studiový dub/ambient techno projekt, který se postupně přetransformoval k live prezentaci a za pomoci sampleru a modulárního systému procestoval řadu klubů po ČR.

Lukas Midub produkuje primárně atmosférickou elektroniku v oblasti ambient/dub/downtempo s přesahem k electro a acid funku, zejména co se produkce a remixů týká. Svou hudbu tvoří z velké části na hardwarové aparatuře, rád používá analogové synthesizery, různé efekty, modulární systém, nahrává si reálné zvuky perkusí, činelů a je velikým milovníkem nástrojů Moog a Dreadbox, na kterých vytváří nejen veškeré basslines. Našel si svůj ideální způsob tvorby, který díky samplingu a resamplingu svých nástrojů (a za pomoci analogových filtrů) nástrojům přidává jistý charakter. Hudba produkovaná v Abletonu se tak neustále přes dráty pohybuje z počítače a zase do počítače v jiné barvě.

Jako Midub má několik vydání na tuzemských labelech a mnoho releasů různě po světě na labelech vydávajících dub techno/ambient a na této scéně je dnes stálicí. Před pár lety se dostal přes studio patřící Ecsonu Waldesovi k remixování české funky legendy J.A.R. a vydal svůj oficiální remix na vinylu, kde se sešel se jmény jako PSH, Mňága a Žďorp, Bára Poláková či Monkey Business. Lukas Midub byl vždy hudebně velmi rozmanitý, je milovníkem soulu, funky, acid jazzu a electra a začal svou produkci směrovat do posluchačsky přístupnějších vod.

Remixoval také například Magnetik Moimíra Papaleska, skupiny Dalekko, Noví lidé, ALT a kapelu Lety Mimo, která byla remixem natolik nadšena, že se stal oficiálním refreshem původní písně. Spolupráce se prohloubila natolik, že se Lukas stal na dva roky součástí Lety Mimo a jako producent a stínový člen s kapelou tvoří desku, pod kterou je podepsán jako producent, tvůrce veškeré elektroniky, mixu a spoluautor nových písní kapely.

Jako stínový člen hraje roli také v projektu hrající melancholické písně na pomezí ambient rocku a elektroniky Beta Solaris, který založil společně s Majklem Brožíkem před mnoha lety a ve kterém dnes funguje pouze jako studivé zázemí, produkce a technická podpora. Veškeré autorství má na starosti dnes pouze Majkl.
