VLAKY, VLÁČKY, PAMĚŤ A SNY
Skutečná železnice se mi odrážela i doma v malém modelovém kolejišti, v těch miniaturních nádražních budovách, spoře osvětlených nástupištích, opuštěných skladištích i v krajině.

TRAINS, MODEL TRAINS, MEMORY AND DREAMS
OR THE DISCREET HARM OF CZECH RAILWAYS.
My fascination with the world of trains and trains has bubbled up in various forms since I was a very young child. The train has always been my favourite means of transport and I can therefore consider myself a young railway memoirist.
The real railway was reflected in my home in the small model railway track, in those miniature station buildings, dimly lit platforms, abandoned warehouses and in the landscape. You didn‘t even have to run the train anymore, just look at the evening-lit landscape of the track. On the bench on the platform, in the waiting room or behind the illuminated window in the square, the stories of real people took place, the abandoned road by the station was the real abandoned road with a real parked car waiting for a real driver... Shrinking the real world to the size of a waltz gave a new view of the world, not unlike the view of Japanese monks on their sandy landscapes with stone islands...
One of the greatest advantages of travelling by train is the opportunity to observe its passage through the countryside from the closest proximity, usually at its uniform, not-too-curling pace, during which one sinks into it beautifully and surrenders... It is fascinating to observe and listen to the station scenery, where just waiting in these places gives a strange sense of standing time, a sense of distant lands to infinity, and it doesn‘t matter if the stations are crowded with passengers or, on the contrary, completely deserted.
The details to be seen on railway carriages have always evoked the deepest amazement in me. The incomprehensible inscriptions are beautiful not to understand and the rusty bolts tell the story of all they remember.
The sound of the brake inspector, the station amplion, the distant howl of a locomotive, footsteps in the underpass... sound remembers...
Sound is memory...
